A successful day

Thank you so much to all the students, faculty and professionals who attended PRofessional CONNECTION yesterday. The event could not have happened without you! It also could not have happened without the hard work of Erica, Debbie and the PRofessional CONNECTION committee heads and members. The only downside to the day – that I couldn’t be in more places at once!

It was great to see familiar faces from PRSSAs of the past, and to see how far they’ve come. I thought it was especially cool that we skyped in Melina Baetti from Paris for our International PR seminar. It was also great to get advice from recent Grady grads in terms of how to get a job, and how to keep your spirits high while you try. In the words of past PRecendent editor Leslie Emanuele, “Network, intern, and repeat!”

If you missed PRofessional CONNECTION, make sure you check out our Twitter page for updates from the event. Or you can search #PRConnect for updates from anyone in attendence.

PRofessional CONNECTION is tomorrow!

18 11 2008

Woo hoooooooooooooo!!

PRofessional CONNECTION could quite possibly be my favorite event of the year, and it’s tomorrow!

From 1:30 to 6:30 p.m. tomorrow, all 200-ish of you will be able to network, learn, win doorprizes, have your resume critiqued, and all other kinds of great perks.

All you need to do is show up at the bottom of Tate around 1:30p.m. for registration.  The first session starts at 2 p.m. If you aren’t coming to the first session, just make sure you register at the table so you can get your nametag.  You’ll also get a schedule and other directions there.

I’m sooooooo excited!  Let’s really take this opportunity to expand OUR NETWORK.

Guest Post – Brad Macafee, Porter Novelli

As you can imagine, I’m fired up about this year’s PRofessional CONNECTION. The spirit and buzz around this conference has stretched all the way down to Atlanta, with professionals eager to meet and network with students from one of the finest journalism schools in the country. The theme of this year’s conference, “It’s Your Network,” could not be more fitting for the world we currently live in. From web conferencing, to blogs, to networking events like this one – students and professionals who embrace the field of communications are linked to each other and the world better than ever.

I’m also excited that each of you will have the opportunity to hear Kim Sammons, V.P. in Porter Novelli’s healthcare practice, as the featured keynote. I know her years of experience and insight will reverberate within each of you as you begin to explore your first career out of college.

I hope you all are available to take this opportunity to attend PRofessional CONNECTION and I look forward to seeing you there.
