Support our Creative Consultants Team! (and get some new shoes, too!)

20 10 2008

Tonight, Monday, October 20 at 8 p.m., our CC Cine team will be hosting the “Style your Sole Party and Movie Screening” at Cine.

Cine is showing the TOMS Shoes documentary For Tomorrow.  TOMS Shoes is an
innovative company that offers a unique product and the opportunity to help a
child in need.  During a trip to Argentina, the company’s founder, Blake
Mycoskie, realized how many children go without shoes.  He returned to the U.S.
with a plan for a new kind of business.

TOMS are canvas slip-on shoes modeled after the traditional Argentine
“alpargata”.  For every pair purchased, TOMS donates a pair to a child in need.
$42 covers a pair for you AND the pair for donation.  ”One for one.”

The Style Your Sole event, on October 20, will give you the opportunity to
purchase a pair of red, black or white TOMS.  You can choose to have your shoes
customized by local artists (including UGA students Missy Cargo, Amy Ishii,
Katie Osburn and popular Athens artist Jamie Calkin) or to customize them
yourself.

The 60-minute featured documentary highlights the founding of TOMS Shoes
and the first Shoe Drop to Argentina.

Admission is $1.  Despite the economy, I’m pretty sure you can pay a dollar.  Buying the shoes is optional!

I encourage ALL of you to drop by!  This is truly a great cause and a neat twist on philanthropy.  Take some pictures, too!  See you there!
