So, you’re in PRSSA, but you want to do more. What’s out there for you?

Join a committee. We have seven different committees that you can join each semester.
- Meetings: Without t he meetings committee, our meetings wouldn’t be as fun as they are. Members are responsible for bringing food, ice, drinks (all reimbursable) and sometimes decorations. They need to be dedicated and willing to find someone to fill in for their duties if they can’t attend.
- Service: The service committee is UGA PRSSA’s youngest creation. We decided we wanted to extend the boundaries of our club to encompass serving others in our community. The service committee brainstorms fund raising or volunteer opportunities for the chapter. Last year, we designed a T-shirt for the Georgia/Florida football game, had percentage nights at Raising Cane’s and had a food and clothing drive. These members need to be passionate about serving others or have a curiosity about volunteering.
- Mentoring: The mentoring committee is relatively new as well. Upperclassmen and underclassmen are invited to sign up. After looking at the applications, the mentoring committee head pairs up older students (mentors) with younger students (mentees). YOU DO NOT HAVE TO BE IN GRADY TO JOIN THE COMMITTEE. In fact, many mentors have helped their mentees overcome the anxiety and challenges of applying to Grady. It’s a great way to meet more people in the chapter and to start a lasting friendship.
- Publicity: If we didn’t have the publicity committee, no one would come to our meetings. They are responsible for designing and hanging up flyers, speaking to classes and brainstorming other ways to encourage people to come to PRSSA. These members need to be extremely dedicated. If you have an interest in graphic design or if you just think you have a knack for it, join in! We need lots of people to help spread the word.
- PRofessional CONNECTION: Sign-up for the PRofessional CONNECTION committee is only in the fall. Since the event is held every November, committee members will be responsible for the planning, designing, publicity and execution of the event. Attendance at committee meetings are almost mandatory. We need dedication from the members to pull it off.
- Diversity: This committee is in charge of planning our annual PR Workout. You would also create a mini public relations/advertising campaign to encourage diversity in public relations.
- Fundraising: Members of this committee work with the treasurer to raise money for the chapter. The fundraising committee scouts out opportunities in which chapter members can apply for scholarships and grants in the fields of journalism and PR.

I am joining PRSSA this Spring, and I would like to be involved. Since I missed the Creative Consultants deadline, can I still join a committee? Also, what are the committee meeting dates (day of week) and times?
Thank you for your help and your time.
